Cheap DVDs.300.jpg Last years hit movie and ‘inspiration’ for the utterly dire Meet the Spartans, 300 is a big screen adaptation of the Frank Miller graphic novel of the same name. A vicious tapestry of cgi, with beautifully rendered battle scenes and enough six packs to host a party at Amy Winehouse’s place, 300 is spectacular movie without a shadow of doubt and HMV are practically giving away the Special Edition version at the moment, priced at an equally spectacular £4.99

Cheap DVDs.Cracker.Jpg Robbie Coltrane delivers his award winning performance as Fitz, a rude, drunken chainsmoking, pitiful excuse for a husband and lousy father with a gambling problem. Fortunately he is quite good a Criminal Psychology, which is nice. Fitz has had the uncanny ability to place himself inside the Criminal Mind since Robson ‘Wire in the Blood’ Green was putting his privates on parade in Soldier, Soldier. The Original Criminal Pyschologist and still the best.

Cheap DVDs.Dexter Season 1.jpgThe first season of the Emmy award-winning American TV series Dexter follows the exploits of Dexter Morgan, a Psycopath with a moral code. Orphaned at age 4, Dexter is adopted by a police officer who recognises the boys sociopathic tendencies and realises that he cant suppress the urges his son might have, but he can divert them. Working for the Miami police department as a blood spatter analyst sees Dexter Ideally placed to identify exactly those kinds of victims. Dexter focuses on capturing the heinous perpetrators (including a child molesting-murderer and a drunk driver with a trail of bodies in his wake), and dispatches them with clinical precision, thus making him a serial killer who murders serial killers.

Amazon are having a Stock Clearance Sale with up to 75% of DVDs. Not your usual tat either, some very good prices in my opinion. It appears that Amazon are overstocked on a lot of stuff so they are having their very own ‘Everything Must Go sale’ until 8th Jun 2008. Plenty of time to bag a bargain there then.

The DVD Clearance can be found here. But of course Amazon are much more than a DVD store so visit their homepage for details of all the latest clearance categories

Walt Disney’s 14th animated masterpiece bursts with fantasy, adventure, and pixie dust! Accompanied by his feisty sidekick, Tinker Bell, Peter teaches Wendy, John, and Michael to fly and they’re off to the “second star to the right” and straight ahead to Never Land! Before they know it, they’re knee-deep in high-flying battle with swashbuckling pirates, led by Peter’s archenemy, Captain Hook whose time is nearly up against a ticktocking crocodile.

From the stunning starlit London skies to the glorious first sight of Never Land, including the memorable songs “You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!” “Following The Leader,” and “A Pirate’s Life For Me,” Peter Pan defines Disney Magic, reminding us all again and again that childhood dreams live forever.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost Double Feature.

Hot Fuzz: Top London cop, Police Constable Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg), finds himself reassigned to the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With garden fetes and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman (Nick Frost), an oafish but well meaning young Constable. Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realises that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems….

Shaun Of The Dead: Shaun (Simon Pegg) is not quite your average twentysomething. Lacking any real ambition and drifting along in a job that he hates, he drives his long-suffering girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield), up the wall. Despite being a very decent chap, Shaun suddenly gets a very rude wake up call when the undead begin roaming the earth (or London’s Crouch End, at least) and, with the help of his slacker chum, Ed (Nick Frost), he must save Liz and his dear mum from becoming zombies! Well, that’s if he can get out of the local pub…
