Speaking as Someone who already owns both an XBOX 360 and a Playstation 3 I find the war between fanboys to be irritating and divisive. Both consoles have their pluses and both have their minuses, but in both cases the minuses a relatively trivial if all you want is a decent video games console. However, this doesn’t stop Microsoft and Sony striving to make improvements even if the only thing they can do is tweak the obvious such as adding a bigger hard drive. Microsoft have taken the lead with their newly unveiled 60GB Xbox 360 already available for around £180, while Sony are set to follow suit on Friday August the 22nd with the European Launch of the 80GB Playstation 3 which seems as though it will be shipping with the Dualshock 3 controller as standard.

You can Pre-Order the 80GB PS3 from the following Outlets:
Both currently selling for £299.99 but as always with Amazon and Game if the price drops lower before the actual release of the Console then you’ll get it for that lower price.
The 80gb upgrade makes sense for Sony as it coincides nicely with the launch of PlayTV which is Sony attempt to turn the PS3 into a PVR, inctruducing features such as:
Record and view your favourite programmes at the same time - Play TV enables you to record both Standard Definition as well as High Definition
* Personal Video Recorder functionality - watch live TV, pause, fast forward and rewind
* Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) to show what’s on, now and next - up to 7 days in advance in certain countries
* Mobile TV functionality - export content easily from PS3 HDD to PSP - watch TV on the go! Thanks to live streaming, you can watch your favourite show whilst abroad
* Channel surf with either your BD remote or your Sixaxis
With all that going on your average PS3 needed a Hard drive boost I guess.
