Happy new year everybody. After a brief hiatus over the Christmas period its time to get back down to business and post a few more bargains. And what better way to start the year than with Gavin & Stacy. I’d only been dimly aware of this series over the last 18 months, although it has had a big cult following on BBC3. I caught up with the entire story in the run up to Christmas and liked it so much I thought it was worth a mention.

Released on the 17th November, the 4th Series of the New Doctor Who featuring David Tennant & Catherine Tate (and it will also be Tennants last full series, with just 4 more specials on the cards before he steps aside for a new Doctor). Including the Christmas special from 2007, this set boasts some fine episodes (even I managed to accept Catherine Tate as Donna Noble in the end), including Silence in the Library, and some barn storming cliffhangers (one in particular involving a surprise regeneration had the whole nation talking).

Wall:E won’t be released on DVD until November 24th, but that hasn’t stopped the various online retailers advertising it for pre-order on their site. Sure to be top of every kids Christmas list though so you might as well get it as Cheaply as possible. Sendit are currently the cheapest, listing their pre-order price as £9.89 for the Region 2 Special Edition DVD (no foreign import here).

However I’m sure that will change over the next 2 and a half months so if sendits price is no longer valid then you can always compare prices of Wall:E on DVD here

Released on September 1, the complete fourth Series of popular BBC Comedy Drama New Tricks comes to DVD. Lets face it if you’ve never watched the show then you probably think ‘Old Dogs’ would be a more appropriate title for this Series which revolves around a bunch of wrinkly crime fighters, all retired coppers, solving crimes in between dealing with the traumas that life throws at them. However, the great British cast of James Bolam, Alun Armstrong, Amanda Redman and Dennis Waterman bring a tremendous amount of talent to the screen that lifts the show above the mundane and is certainly worth your time. Hetty Wainthrop it aint.

Not released until the 10th of March but this is the best pre-order price I can see for this title - and a 2 disc special edition to boot. Originally planned to be part of a double header in theatres with Quentin Tarantino’s Deathproof, Planet Terror pays homage to exploitation cinema with Married Doctor’s William and Dakota Block (Josh Brolin and Marley Shelton) pitched against local townsfolk turned Zombies after an experimental bio-weapon is released with the proper testing. Tut. Naturally everyone exposed to the gas is turned into a flesh eating zombie. A motley group of survivors is left to fight it out with the ‘Sickos’ as they are called including, stripper Cherry, her dodgy, ex-boyfriend Wray and the local sheriff. Who together must survive the night and take down the Zombies before they take over the whole town and then the world.
