Cheap DVDs.Sex and the City.jpgThe silver-screen version of SEX AND THE CITY is sure to inspire lust, though it may not be after its sexy male cast. Instead, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her friends wear enviable fashions from the industry’s biggest names such as Zac Posen, Louis Vuitton, and, of course, Manolo Blahnik, and their gorgeous clothes–and accessories–threaten to steal the show. But for fans of the series’ wit, drama, and sex, there’s plenty to like in this romantic comedy filled with familiar characters. Though four years have passed since the events of the series, not much has changed as the film begins: Carrie and Mr. Big (Chris Noth) are happy as they search for an apartment, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is blissful with her husband (Evan Handler) and adopted daughter, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is still with actor Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is trying to balance life as a mother, wife, and lawyer as she lives in Brooklyn with Steve (David Eigenberg). But Carrie and Big’s apartment hunt leads them down the road to marriage, and the destination may not be quite everything Carrie hoped for.
Though the film runs nearly two and a half hours, it flies by the way a marathon of episodes would for the devoted. Even minor characters from the show–Vogue editor Enid Frick (Candice Bergen), beloved Carrie pal Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson), and hyper wedding planner Anthony Marentino (Mario Canton)–make fan-pleasing appearances. SEX AND THE CITY is full of glitz, glamour, and giggles, but be sure to have a tissue nearby. These characters have become like friends to fans, and it’s tough not to tear up when things don’t go exactly as they’d hoped.

Cheap DVDs. Hellboy 2.jpgThis is an odd one, the price comparison of Hellboy 2: The Golden Army shows the cheapest price for the bog standard Special Edition is £12.99 at HMV, with Play offering it for sale for £15.99 (Which is quite expensive, especially when you can pick up the Blu-ray edition for £13.99, also from HMV. What struck me as odd though was the fact the Play have listed this ‘Hellboy 2: The Golden Army 2 Disc Collectors Edition DVD‘ featuring a Lenticular Sleeve Exclusive To Play! for only £9.99.

Now, do I buy the Blu-ray or the Collectors Edition…? Decisions, decisions.

Some of you may be aware that (along with the legendary Wilko) I part own www.hdanddvdbargains.com. Formerly CD and DVD Bargains, its a popular community driven site with the emphasis firmly on the forum rather than the blog format that DVD Bargain Alerts has adopted. There are similarities between the two sites of course (not least of which are the Price Comparison and Pricewatch features both of which have been shamelessly lifted from DVD Bargain Alerts itself), but its strength definitely lies in the volume of loyal returning visitors who help make the site what it is.

To reward these members and to encourage new members to post, HD and DVD Bargains has partnered with Play.com who are kindly contributing a prize which will be awarded monthly to one valued contributor to the forum. This month the Prize is Angelina Jolie in Wanted. Based upon Mark Millar’s explosive graphic novel series and helmed by stunning visualist director Timur Bekmambetov - creator of the most successful Russian film franchise in history, the Night Watch series - Wanted tells the tale of one apathetic nobody’s transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice.

For details of how to be in with a chance of winning a prize like this every month then Visit HD and DVD Bargains to find out more.

Not as good as Doctor Who, but still a good Series. Buy season 1 of Torchwood for £17.99 from Play.com today.

Cheap DVDs.Torchwood.jpg Due for release on 30/06/2008, Play.com are offering the complete second season of the Doctor Who Spin-off ‘Torchwood’ for the very cheap price of £14.99 (lets be honest its probably a misprice). You wont find this cheaper anywhere else right now so its worth a punt.

Separate from the government, outside the police, beyond the United Nations: Torchwood sets its own rules.

With fearsome new aliens, compelling new storylines, and amazing guest stars the second series will take the close-knit Torchwood team through dare-devil action, temptation, heartache… and a life changing event for one of the team.

The high-octane new episodes take Torchwood on journeys to the 51st Century and World War I. The team battle a rogue Time Agent, investigate alien sleeper cells, save a stranded creature from horrific abuse, and come face to face with an entity that may well be Death itself.

Joined for three episodes by Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones in Doctor Who) and with guest appearances from Richard Briers (Monarch of the Glen, The Good Life), Alan Dale (Ugly Betty, The OC), and James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville) Captain Jack will have his work cut out as the stakes get higher and his team are stretched further than ever before.
